Empower yourself with life-saving skills through our American Red Cross CPR, First Aid. In this comprehensive course, participants will learn essential techniques for responding to medical emergencies with confidence and competence. Led by our certified instructor, the curriculum covers CPR for adults, children, and infants, along with first aid protocols for injuries, burns, choking, and more. Additionally, participants will receive training on how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) effectively, further enhancing their ability to intervene in critical situations. Whether you're a concerned parent, a caregiver, or simply want to be prepared for emergencies in your community, this program equips you with the knowledge and skills to make a difference when it matters most. Join us in becoming a lifeline for those in need, and together, let's create safer and more resilient communities.~~~~~The primary purpose of the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program is to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies for adults, children, and infants. This course teaches participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed. Participant will receive a certification card after the completion of this course.Optional – May bring a snack and water. MIN: 2 MAX: 12Instructor Bio: Melissa has been on the Acton Recreation staff for 12 years, as director since 2019. She has worked with children and adults in education and recreation for over 25 years. She is certified to teach infants, toddlers, and preschool aged children, and also holds certifications to teach CPR, First Aid and lifeguarding. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Bridgewater State University in Communications and her Master’s Degree in Recreation Management from Springfield College.
